The dog owner rings a bell.

And moments later they serve the dog some dog food. The dog eats the food.

The dog owner does this again and again. Eventually, the dog begins salivating at the sound of the bell.

Why?

Because the dog has built a ****positive association ******between the ring of the bell & food being served.
